The causes and avoidance methods of rust spots on NdFeB strong magnets.

2023-12-18

After being placed for a period of time, the neodymium iron boron strong magnet will have white or other color spots on the surface, which will gradually develop into rust spots. Under normal circumstances, the plating magnet plating layer is not prone to rust spots. :

1. The magnet is stored in a place with humidity, poor air circulation and temperature difference;

2. The dirt on the surface of the magnet before electroplating is not well cleaned;

3. The plating time is not enough or the process flow problem;

4. Magnet oxidation caused by damage to the packaging seal of the magnet;

The qualified electroplating products of NdFeB powerful magnets, under normal circumstances, there should be no rust spots on the surface of the magnet plating layer. NdFeB strong magnets should avoid the following storage methods:

In places that are too humid and have poor air circulation; when the temperature difference changes greatly, even products that have passed the salt spray test for long periods of time may produce rust spots in harsh environments. When the electroplated products are stored in a harsh environment, the base layer further reacts with condensed water, which will reduce the bonding force between the base layer and the plating layer. In severe cases, it will also cause localized powdering of the base layer and natural peeling. Electroplated products should not be placed in a place with high humidity for a long time, but should be placed in a cool, dry place.
